Valentine Tea

For Residents of Calais Methodist Homes

Saturday, February 4, 2012
2:00 p.m.

Assorted cookies, breads, scones, and fruit will be served.  Guild members will serve tea and sweets and show a variety of new and old quilts.  Bring your favorite tea cup or mug.

Above is the notice that went out to Calais Methodist Homes residents in January for the Valentine Tea.  We hope to make this a fun and enjoyable time for the residents.  This will be a time to talk, laugh, and get to know the people who reside in the Calais Methodist Homes.

Guild members will greet, seat, and serve the residents tea and goodies.  We need your help.  Below is a listing of the help needed to make this tea a huge success.  Don’t feel like you have to sign up for every job.  Someone may be able to make cookies but not serve.  Another person can serve and provide tea pots but will not be able to clean-up.  Many hands make light work.

 These are the items needed:

  1. Cookies, scones, other sweets, crackers and cheese – Make one batch for your donation item, sweets that are not extremely crumbly are appreciated and they should be small.  If you have a recipe for a diabetic sweet (please label).  The guild will provide some fruit.

  1. Goodie Bag – We will give each resident who attend the tea a goodie bag that they can fill with any extra cookies, etc.  We are asking guild members to use the Small Treats Totes pattern.  This pattern uses two fat-quarters and makes 4 bags.  Click picture for Small Treat Tote pattern.

  1. Teapots – If you have any teapots that we can use, please let us know.  Please check that the teapot DOES NOT LEAK when the tea is poured.

  1. Quilts – We will expand our quilt show this year. Please bring any antique or modern quilts, wall hangings, clothing, pillows, etc. that use different techniques and fabrics.  Last year’s attendees were very excited about seeing the quilted items.

  1. Hostess – We will need help with greeting, seating, and serving the residents tea and goodies.  We will also need help with set-up and clean-up.  We plan to use regular dishes and not paper. We will need more small plates and some spoons and knives.

  1. Aprons – Aprons add a nice touch and are optional.

We will have a sign-up sheet at the January workshops on January 4 & 7, February 1, and at the business meeting on January 18.  You can also contact:
